House of the Sun

Panoramic view of the Haleakalā volcano summit depression on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Usually referred to as a crater or caldera, it is in fact none of the two. Scientists believe that Haleakalā's "crater" was formed when the headwalls of two large erosional valleys merged at the summit of the volcano. It does contain multiple cinder cones and lava fields though.
